Fibonacci

In Freiburg, I was taking a class on surveillance, and listening to a course on big data by Paul Rosenzweig. He reveals many forms of surveillance currently being used in, on, and by the United States and China. The degree to which privacy is already infiltrated for political and economic gain is staggering. The ramifications of this are ever increasing. In this piece, golden Fibonacci ripples of data and their effects radiate out. The two countries are on either side, and you are in the center: prized and coveted, but buffeted, oblivious, individually insignificant, and powerless.

 

But the “butterfly effect” of chaos theory also applies. Small events, perhaps including awareness, can have large and distant effects. Sousveillant art may be the answer.
